During this time of year we all have those moments of awesome...when our throat starts to get that tingle and our nose starts to drip. The good old signs of getting sick! When you have those symptoms, what do you do? Are you the type who runs to the doctor for medicine? Do you just load up on DayQuil and NyQuil? Or do you just curl up in a ball and hope to get better soon?
Well, the purpose of this blog post is to show you that there are some natural items that you can take to help get you on the road to recovery! I'm not saying that I've never needed antibiotics from my doctor or relied on NyQuil to get some quality zzzz's. But I do like to go the natural approach if at all possible. Our bodies are quite amazing in their abilities to fight of infection and sickness and sometimes all they need is a little boost. Here are a few items I'd suggest you have in your arsenal.
Vitamin C, because it potentially helps your system fight immune deficiencies, fight cardiovascular disease, and fight eye disease.
Zinc, potentially helps immune function, accelerates wound healing, and decreases inflammation.
Elderberry, potentially helps with joint/muscle pain, headaches, fever, and infections that affect your breathing.
D3 potentially helps with boosting immunity, strengthening bones and muscles, and reduces inflammation.
Hot Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother), and Honey. I do 1 Tbsp of each in a hot coffee cup of water. Vinegar (with the mother) has immune bolstering aspects and powerful probiotics to help your immune system fight. Plus it tastes good! This is a drink that has been passed down for generations in my family.
Here are a couple links to the products I'd suggest you have in your home as part of your immune bolstering arsenal.
