Have you tried intermittent fasting? If yes, did you see the benefits? If no, why haven't you given it a shot?
What are the benefits of intermittent fasting?
Insulin Levels drop, and facilitates fat burning.
Potential HGH increase, which helps muscle growth and fat burning.
Cellular repair, flushing waste from cells.
Gene expression, beneficial changes related to longevity and protection against disease
Potential to help lose weight, by increasing metabolic rate and eating less calories
Can lower risk of type 2 diabetes
Can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress
Many other potential benefits can be had!
What are the disadvantages of intermittent fasting?
Hard to fast that long.
Can't eat everything all day.
Mentally challenging.
Requires physical and mental strength.
I have been doing the 16:8 version of intermittent fasting, and is it a cakewalk? Nope, but do I feel different? Yes I do! I actually have found that I like the mental games that you have to play with yourself in the beginning to actually accomplish the 16 hour portion of the program.
I find it interesting that as I have gotten older, I enjoy what most people call "the grind" or "hell!" When I run, I don't like the flatlands, I like the uphills! Most of us fail because mentally we aren't tough enough to push through the hard things in life. Pushing yourself when you workout, and telling your "quitting mind" to shut up....and finishing what you started without quitting is something we all should experience in life.
Intermittent fasting and eating healthier is comparable in terms of the "quitting mind." It's hard to eat healthy, or fast for 16 hours, or pass up that doughnut. But most of the difficulty is in your mind. Harden up that mind and tell your body to get in line. I would almost guarantee you, if you can get on this food "grind" you will see and feel the benefits. So join me on this journey!! #fastforhealth #fasttogetfast #fastingforlife
